Revolver Rita: A Quirky Crime-Caper That Promises Mayhem & Charm

When Keerthy Suresh announced Revolver Rita , the buzz was immediate — not just because she’s a powerhouse actress, but also because the film teases a wild, madcap ride. With its November 28, 2025 release date now locked, the action-comedy is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated Tamil films of the year. A Bold Return for Director JK Chandru Director JK Chandru , known for his offbeat sensibilities (his last noteworthy film was Naveena Saraswathi Sabatham in 2013), makes a strong return with Revolver Rita . The film is being produced by Sudhan Sundaram and Jagadish Palanisamy under Passion Studios and The Route , signaling a collaboration that wants to bring something fresh and audacious to the Tamil screen.  The Premise: Chaos Meets Comedy From the recently released trailer, it's clear the film leans heavily into dark comedy territory. Nobody 2: The Suburban Dad Assassin Returns in Style

The unlikely action hero is back. Bob Odenkirk returns as Hutch Mansell in "Nobody 2," the sequel to the 2021 action-thriller set for release on August 15, 2025, and early indicators suggest this follow-up will deliver the same brutal, darkly comic thrills that made the original a surprise hit.

From Breaking Bad to Breaking Bones

When "Nobody" first hit theaters in 2021, audiences weren't quite sure what to expect from Bob Odenkirk as an action star. The "Better Call Saul" actor's transformation into a ruthless suburban assassin was one of cinema's most delightful surprises. The film grossed $57 million on a $16 million budget and received generally positive reviews from critics, who praised the action sequences and Odenkirk's performance.

Now, with "Nobody 2," Odenkirk is doubling down on his action credentials under the direction of Timo Tjahjanto, who takes over from original director Ilya Naishuller. Tjahjanto, stepping in for the first film's director, brings his own vision to the character of Hutch Mansell, the mild-manner family man who keeps his past as a government assassin under wraps.

A Star-Studded Cast with Familiar Faces

The sequel brings back the core ensemble that made the original work so well. Bob Odenkirk, Connie Nielsen, RZA, Michael Ironside, Colin Salmon, Billy MacLellan, Gage Munroe, Paisley Cadorath and Christopher Lloyd all reprise their roles from the first film. The return of Christopher Lloyd as Hutch's father David is particularly exciting, as the veteran actor brought a perfect blend of menace and humor to the role.

But it's the new additions that have everyone talking. Colin Hanks, John Ortiz, and Sharon Stone all play new characters, with Stone's casting generating significant buzz. Director Timo Tjahjanto has been particularly enthusiastic about Stone's performance, describing it as intense and memorable.

A Family Vacation Gone Wrong

The plot centers on workaholic assassin Hutch Mansell taking his family on a much-needed vacation to the small tourist town of Plummerville. However, he soon finds himself in the crosshairs of a corrupt theme-park operator. It's a classic "trying to go straight but violence finds me anyway" setup that should provide plenty of opportunities for the kind of inventive action sequences that made the first film memorable.

The story promises to dive deeper into both Hutch's past and unravel secrets about his wife Becca's background, suggesting that the sequel will expand the mythology while maintaining the tight focus on family dynamics that grounded the original.

Behind the Scenes

Principal photography began on August 6, 2024, in Winnipeg, and wrapped on September 26, keeping the production timeline tight and efficient. The screenplay comes from Derek Kolstad — who penned the first film — and Aaron Rabin, with Odenkirk, Kelly McCormick, David Leitch, Marc Provissiero and Braden Aftergood serving as producers.

The involvement of Derek Kolstad, who also created the "John Wick" franchise, continues to position "Nobody" as a spiritual cousin to that series, though with its own distinct suburban-dad-with-a-secret identity.

Why "Nobody 2" Matters

In an era dominated by superhero franchises and familiar IP, the "Nobody" series represents something refreshingly different: original action filmmaking that prioritizes character development and practical stunts over CGI spectacle. The first film proved that audiences were hungry for this kind of grounded, R-rated action, and the sequel appears positioned to deliver more of the same.

Early trailer footage shows Odenkirk's character continuing to use everyday objects as weapons in creative ways, maintaining the series' commitment to inventive, visceral action sequences that feel both brutal and darkly humorous.

With its August 15, 2025 release date, "Nobody 2" is positioned as perfect late-summer entertainment for adults seeking an alternative to typical blockbuster fare. If the sequel can capture even half of the original's lightning-in-a-bottle energy, audiences are in for a treat.

The suburban dad assassin is back, and he's not taking any prisoners – or any vacations, for that matter.
